ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) secretary general has said that he would not have been on government’s hit-list if Mossack Fonseca’s leaked data had not targeted it, Dunya News reported Thursday.
While addressing a press conference in the federal capital, Tareen said that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif is guilty of money laundering if he does not have proofs of funds’ transfer. He said that the government media, run using people’s money is being used for personal gains and to malign political opponents.
He called the Prime Minister out saying that he was in the ‘dock’ and not PTI’s leadership.
He demanded PM Nawaz to not avoid questions like where did his earnings come from and if he has earned all his wealth through legal means then how much tax he has given till present day.
Tareen also demanded the Prime Minister to table details of his assets before the nation within one week. His children too have a house in London but they have paid the taxes, he added. He possesses transaction details of the funds he had transferred abroad, Tareen said.
Earlier the Prime Minister wrote to the Supreme Court (SC) to establish a commission headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Anwar Zaheer Jamali for probe pertaining to Panama leaks.
Opposition parties including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had demanded the government to form a commission led by CJP Jamali.
On the other hand, it was reported on Wednesday that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif s name was added in the leaks about offshore companies and illegal dealings by mistake.
International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) admitted that PM Nawaz s name was erroneously added in the Panama Papers as a result of an editing mistake.
Opposition parties had agreed on four points yesterday in regard to the new Terms of References (TOR) in the matter.
The opposition parties rejected authorities given to the commission and demanded that the commission be approved through the National Assembly (NA) by presenting it as an ordinance.
