Summary Family members of missing party workers and those of the ones arrested took part in the sit-in
KARACHI (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) sit-in outside Karachi Press Club entered the second day as demands in regards to the retrieval of missing party members and the release of the apprehended ones were made through the protest, reported Dunya News.
Family members of the missing party members and those of the ones arrested took part in the sit-in in large numbers. MQM leader Dr Farooq Sattar whilst addressing the participants of the sit-in stated that the protest is against the federal and the provincial governments as the party wants the whole world to be aware of the problems faced by the families of the victims. He accused that the apprehended members of the party were never presented before any court neither any remand was taken in regards to their arrest.
MQM workers in large numbers headed towards the Chief Minister’s (CM) House from the Press Club in the form of a rally led by Farooq Sattar who stated that the march towards the CM House will be peaceful as the purpose of it will be to deliver a memorandum in regards to the missing workers. However, things got heated when MQM workers and the police confronted one another.
As resistance from the police towards the MQM workers increased, the latter arranged a sit-in at the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) Chowk. MQM leader Kanwar Naveed Jamil stated that no minister is willing to negotiate, adding that it is the responsibility to decide who is innocent and who is guilty. Deputy Commissioner (DC) South reached at the site to hold dialogue with the protesters.
