LAHORE (Dunya News) – Jammat-e-Islami (JI) has announced that it will hold countrywide protests against corruption from May 1 onwards, reported Dunya News.
While addressing to the sit-in organised at Mall Road, Lahore, on Sunday, JI head Sirajul Haq stated that the people of the country are being fooled on the basis of accountability and democracy for the past 68 years, adding that the same “dacoits and thieves” join other parties by simply changing the party flags.
He said that those loyal to the British have maintain hold over the country, the political landscape, factories and democracy adding that such a hypocritical attitude led to the separation of Eastern Bengal.
Siraj said that there is nothing there for the poor in democracy as it is “a game of the capitalists”. He also said that the country’s judicial and electoral system is flawed. “Had Sultana Daku been alive in Pakistan today, he would also be a member of the National Assembly or a Senator”, he said. He said that he wants reformation in the system in which the Supreme Court’s door is unlocked using a key made out of gold.
JI chief said that he is ready to sacrifice the last moment of his life to make Pakistan free of corruption. He stated that similar to economic corruption, the public opinion needs to be organised against electoral corruption as well.
Referring to the Panama Leaks investigation, Siraj said that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif made a commission based on his will which is unacceptable. He said that Leader of the Opposition was told that the Terms of References (TORs) related to the investiagation of the matter will be consulted with the opposition, however the government made TORs on its own.
