KARACHI (Dunya News) – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Dr Farooq Sattar has said that the party is reviewing Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif’s statement about corruption, Dunya News reported Wednesday.
While addressing the students in University of Karachi, Sattar said that different politicians have derived different meanings off army chief’s statement.
On Tuesday, General Sharif had stated that terrorism could not be eradicated unless corruption is curbed in the country.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan had welcomed COAS Sharif’s statement and stated that the entire nation backs his statement against corruption.
On the other hand, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid reacted to Imran’s statement and said that Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s name is not included in Panama leaks and Khan could not dictate anything.
He said that the government could allow anybody to do politics under the disguise of ending corruption. He also said that eradication of corruption is government’s national agenda however continuation of the democratic system for its removal is necessary.
While commenting on former Karachi mayor and Pak Sar Zameen Party chief Mustafa Kamal’s series of press conferences Sattar said that the people would “start grounding wickets” in General Elections 2018.
The MQM member also talked about the Panama leaks issue stating that there is never a place for leaks in democracy and politics.
