ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Opposition Leader in the National Assembly (NA) Khursheed Shah has written a letter to Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif demanding him to accept all demands made during All Pakistan Kissan Conference, Dunya News reported Monday.
The letter highlights issued faced by the farmers community.
Shah stated that a conference held in this regard on February 24 in the federal capital was attended by different leaders of political parties, farmers’ associations and others concerned.
The Opposition Leader attached along the letter charter of demand and notification of the conference.
Charter of demand urges the government to impose agriculture emergency in the country on immediate basis. Another demand tabled by the community includes reversal of general sales tax (GST) on crops.
The charter of demand also calls for an end to duty tax on imported items.
During the conference, farmers had demanded the government to cut power tariff to Rs 5 per unit for usage of tube wells.
