Summary Exchange of fire and shelling ceased after the personnel were taken hostage on Wednesday
RAJANPUR (Dunya News) – Chotu gang has handed over bodies of five police personnel who were martyred in yesterday s confrontation in Kacha Jamal area, Dunya News reported Thursday.
Police lost seven men including a station house officer (SHO) in yesterday’s encounter while 12 personnel were taken hostage.
Police have halted advancement in the area on twelfth day however, the gang is besieged. Exchange of fire and shelling ceased after the personnel were taken hostage.
Earlier today, Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that the operation against the notorious gang would continue.
On the other hand, family of the martyred SHO Haneef Ghouri is devastated as body has not been delivered until filing of this report.

MPA Sardar Waqas Hassan Moakal has filed a resolution in the Punjab Assembly expressing disappointment over government’s inability to nab the gang. Moakal has urged deployment of army in the area.

On Wednesday, around 150 personnel rowed boats to Kacha Jamal at 3am prompting criminals to open fire. Reportedly, woodland in Kacha Jamal, gang’s centre of operations made police movement difficult.

A control room was formed in Rahim Yar Khan whereas police had sought two gunship copters for aerial operation against the culprits earlier this week.
Chotu gang
Gang’s leader, Ghulam Rasool Bakhrani alias Chotu bears head money of Rs 20 lac while as many as 48 cases pertaining to kidnapping for ransom, murder, dacoities among other crimes are registered against him in different police stations.
First case against Chotu was filed on August 7, 1987.
The gang is also associated with anti-state elements including Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). Earlier it was reported that India-manufactured weapons were seized from armed men arrested in the operation.
At least 100 people constitute the notorious gang that has survived as many as seven police operations in the past.
More than 160 dacoits and miscreants backed by terror outfits and anti-state elements have been copped so far in security operation in Kacha Jamal area.
