PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – High court has issued notice to Interior Secretary after annulling military court’s death sentence verdict, Dunya News reported Wednesday.

Shangla’s resident named Ikramullah, an alleged terrorist who had gone missing on June 24, 2014.

Alleged militant’s brother Anwarullah had challenged military court’s verdict in the Peshawar High Court (PHC). Justice Waqar Seth and Justice Younis heard the case today and annulled army court’s order.

The court summoned comments from Interior Secretary, Adiala Jail Superintendent among others.

Military courts were established in 2015 after an amendment in the Constitution that was brought after Army Public School (APS) attack in December 2014.

The attack had claimed around 140 lives, mostly children.

The army courts were established in hope of speedy trails of militants.
