Summary Laughter, excitement and people doused with vibrant colours celebrate Holi in Pakistan
LAHORE (Web Desk) – Laughter, excitement and people doused with vibrant colours, these were the scenes witnessed as Pakistan’s Hindu community celebrated the festival of Holi with a good deal of cultural zeal and vigor.

Citizens of the minority community gathered in great numbers to relish in the spirit and fesitvities of the occasion. From dousing each other in colours of various shades to distributing sweets amongst each other, the holiday fervor seemed to grip every one.

Before kicking off the day, a traditional Holika bonfire was lit, with people dancing and taking part in the merriment.

In Lahore, the day started with a visit to the Krishna Mandir, after which the rejoicing people proceeded with the colour throwing and other festivities. Similar scenes were seen in Karachi, Multan and other major cities. Citizens young and old, all were seen decorating themselves in the hue.

Holi has been celebrated by the Hindu community of the country in the past as well.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was the first to announce a public holiday on the significant festival with PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto arriving earlier in Umerkot and taking part in the celebrations.

Addressing the citizens in an emotional tone, Bilawal said Pakistan could not move forward without the support of its minority community.
