KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh government has decided to restore Karachi Development Authority (KDA) and a bill pertaining to the matter will be presented in the assembly, Dunya News reported Monday.

The bill which is to be moved states that the department is needed to be restored for development of the construction industry. Development department will be led by Local Body minister.

Karachi Development Authority’s governing body will comprise of nine members.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has prepared an amendment in the bill which is to be presented. The party has maintained that potential chiefs of KDA would be suggested to the mayor.

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), according to the sources, will accept the amendment as it is.

Karachi Development Authority was established in 1957 and was dissolved in 2002. Sindh Building Control Authority had replaced the development department.
