Govt responsible if Musharraf doesn't return: Khursheed Shah

SUKKUR (Dunya News) – National Assembly Opposition leader Syed Khursheed Shah Friday stated that the government will be responsible if former military ruler Pervez Musharraf refuses to return to the country. The senior Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) stated that they pray to god that no compromise will be made over democracy.

Talikng to the media, Shah opposed government claims regarding Musharraf’s travel saying that the Supreme Court had stated that the decision to allow Musharraf to travel abroad rested with the government.

Shah stated that he is not concerned if the decision for allowing Musharraf to leave the country was taken due to a deal, due to pressurizing or simply just get rid of the issue, adding that the government will be solely responsible if Musharraf’s decides not to return to the country.

Shah sarcastically expressed that Musharraf’s oxygen in the hospital was immediately taken off after the court’s decision.

The leader of the Opposition further added that Musharraf had ended Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif’s democratic government.

He stated that along with Musharraf, Article 6 should be implemented on all those responsible for breaking the constitutional laws.
