ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Sources from the Ministry of Interior on Friday clarified that the national flag of Pakistan cannot serve as the trademark or design for any political party or institution, reported Dunya News.

According to certain laws made in 1957 and 1964, the dignity of the national flag was legalised, according to Interior Ministry sources. The national flag is allowed to be hoisted at private buildings only on March 23rd, August 14th, December 25th or other gazetted holidays, it can however be hoisted upon the residences and vehicles under the use of the President, Prime Minister (PM), Governors, Ministers, Chairman Senate, Speaker and Chief Election Commissioner on regular days, sources from the Interior Ministry clarified.

According to the law, the national flag can be hoisted on normal days only upon state buildings such as Parliament, provincial assemblies, courts and other governmental buildings.

Former member of Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) and former mayor of Karachi, Mustafa Kamal on Thursday in a press conference with Anees Qaimkhani announced that the political party he formed will use the Pakistani flag as its official flag.
