Summary Police caught press publishing fake currency notes, fake notes of Rs 500 million taken in custody
LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Police on Thursday caught a press used for publishing fake currency notes while the group publishing those notes were also arrested. The fake notes worth Rs 500 million were also taken into custody, reported Dunya News.
According to Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) Superintendent Police (SP) Umar Virk, he had received information about sale of fake currency notes outside money changers’ shops to the innocent people, arresting two suspects as a result.
Upon investigation, it came to the light that there is an entire network operating in the provincial capital selling fake currency notes. Further action was also taken after the inquiry from the suspects and a printing press was also raided from where currency notes of millions of rupees and machinery were taken into custody and five more people were arrested.
The arrested suspects have admitted that they also used to send these currency notes abroad while these notes were also considered valid by ATM machines. According to police officials, the suspects belonged to Peshawar, Sheikhupura and Lahore while their aides are also being looked for.
