Summary Council of Islamic Ideology will thoroughly look into the bill concerning violence against women

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Member of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) Allama Yousuf Awan has asked to take the Women Protection Bill regarding domestic violence, passed by the Punjab Assembly, to the CII where it shall be thoroughly reviewed by the Council in accordance with the beliefs of Islam, reported Dunya news.

Awan stated that if any clauses within the bill are found to be against the Sharia then the Council will make alternate recommendations. He further added that it is utmost important to review the bill according to the teachings of Islam.

Awan expressed his concern over the clause which deals with the ruling that upon a complaint from a woman, a man can be restricted for 48 hours from entering in the house. Awan was of the view that since a man is the head of the house, how can restricting his entrance be justified.
