Motorway's Lahore-Pindi Bhatian section shut due to fog

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Motorway has been shut from the provincial capital to Pindi Bhatian owing to dense fog in its second serious spell during the season, Dunya News reported Wednesday.

Pakistan International Airline (PIA) flight PK-303 has been postponed due to unsuitable weather conditions.

Lahore-Pindi Bhatian section of the motorway was shut in the early hours today as visibility had reduced to near zero.

Traffic was moved to GT Road as alternative route. The shift caused a traffic jam at Babu Sabu Interchange. On National Highway, Patoki and areas of Okara were enveloped by fog clouds.

Motorway spokesperson has advised locals to avoid taking unnecessary journeys.

This is the second time in the ongoing week that authorities have shut Lahore-Pindi Bhatian section. Earlier on Tuesday morning that road was closed for all kinds of traffic to avoid any unfortunate incident.

The authorities had requested drivers to make sure fog lights of their vehicles are switched on while using he motorway.

On the other hand, flights schedule has been disturbed at Allama Iqbal International Airport.
