Summary Around five flights have landed in the country carrying Umrah pilgrims today

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan International Airline (PIA) flight shifted Umrah pilgrims who were bound for Lahore, Karachi and other cities to the federal capital, Dunya News reported Monday.

Families which had come to greet their relatives on Allama Iqbal and Jinnah international airports were told that the flight had landed in Islamabad.

One of the passenger who was Lahore-bound, while talking to Dunya News said that he had to stay in Jeddah for three days and there still are around 4,500 to 5,000 Pakistanis stranded. Another irked returnee said that Pakistanis are paying visits to offices concerned in Saudi Arabia everyday seeking their departure.

One of the protesting returnee asked why didn’t Chief of Air Staff (CAS) Sohail Aman and the air force arrange their return if PIA was services were shut.

On the other hand, dozens of locals are visiting PIA offices everyday to get their visas renewed but return disappointed.

PIA employees are protesting against proposed privatization of the company causing trouble for thousands of people as flight operations are suspended across the country.

However, around five flights have landed in the country carrying Umrah pilgrims today.

The government has imposed Essential Service Act while Airport Security Force (ASF) had revoked passes of the employees baring their entry at airports across the country.
