Intermittent rain lashes parts of Pakistan

Summary The rain spell will continue in the next twenty four hours, a spokesperson of Met Office said.

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Intermittent rain lashed different parts of the country including Upper Punjab, Malakand Division and Azad Kashmir on Friday morning.

According to Met Office, widespread rain with snowfall over the hills is expected in parts of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Kohat, Mardan divisions, FATA, Islamabad, upper Punjab areas including Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir, while at scattered places in Bannu, D.I.Khan divisions, north Balochistan (Quetta, Kalat, Zhob, Sibbi divisions) during the next 24 hours.

Isolated light rain is also likely in D.G. Khan, Multan Bahawalpur and Sukkur divisions.

The rain will have salutary impact on the wheat crop.

While issuing the weather warning, the Met Office said moderate, at times heavy snowfall is predicted in Chitral, Kalam, Malamjabba, Dir, Swat, Kaghan, Naran, Shangla, Murree, Gillyat, Neelum valley, Skardu, Astore, Diamer, Ghizer and Ghanche during Friday and Saturday.

Due to widespread rain in Malakand, Hazara divisions and Kashmir there is a risk of landsliding in vulnerable areas during the period.

Lowest temperature recorded early morning in Skardu was -08°C, Parachinar -06°C, Gupis -05°C, Astore -04°C, Gilgit -03°C, Malamjabba, Kalat -02°C, Kalam and Hunza -01°C.
