MULTAN (Dunya News) –Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Vice Chairman (VC) responsible for snatching ballot papers from election officials was released Thursday from district jail. Lahore High Court Multan bench approved the bail of Rafique alias Toti. PML-N workers and supporters danced in celebration over the release of the VC. Party workers led the VC into the constituency in the form of a rally.
According to the details, the VC had allegedly attacked a polling station of Union Council (UC) 58 during the Local Government (LG) polls held on 5th of December by throwing spices in the eyes of the election officials. The VC then snatched the ballot papers and sling from officials and ran away.
A case was registered against the offender at Pak Gate police station on the basis of the Anti-Terrorism Act whereas elections were also suspended in the area. However, accused Rafique alias Toti was elected as VC from the jail during the By-elections held on 17th of December.
He took the oath into office during an interim bail.
The PML-N VC denied the allegations against him and has stated that he will face the accusations in court.
