PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif chaired a special meeting at Corps Headquarters in Peshawar to review overall security situation, DG ISPR Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa said in a press conference.
Corps commander, operation commanders, DG ISI, DG MI, MO and ISPR attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed ongoing operations in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The participants were also briefed on intelligence based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Pak-Afghan border management, and progress in Bacha Khan University attack probe.

The meeting was held few days after heavily armed gunmen stormed the Bacha Khan University campus in northwestern Charsadda town, killing 21 people.

Authorities say that Wednesday’s deadly assault was orchestrated by militants in Afghanistan.
Army spokesman, Lt. Gen. Asim Bajwa, said that the attack was controlled from a location in Afghanistan, through an Afghan cellphone, by a Tehreek-e-Taliban militant.
Kabul dismissed the claims.
“The Afghan government rejects allegations made from the other side of the border. Terrorists operating in Pakistan are from Pakistan,” said Javid Faisal, a spokesman for Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah.

The rampage in Charsadda threatened to shatter the sense of security growing in the troubled region a year after the Peshawar attack, which left more than 150 people dead - mostly children.
