PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Two elite force personnel have been martyred on Friday as unidentified men opened fire in Rashid Garhi area.
Constables Shahzaib and Farhan were on way to Mardan where they had been appointed. Two unidentified armed men opened fire claiming their lives on the spot.
Police reached the attack site after learning about the news.


However, the miscreants managed to escape the crime scene. Police have collected evidences from the attack site. According to the preliminary report, insurgents emptied the magazine aiming shots at the two personnel.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has been hit by insurgency since long. First month of the new year alone has seen three blasts rocking the province.
On January 4, a bomb went off near security forces vehicle in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Peshawar however, no casualties were reported. On January 19, militant outfit claimed another ten lives in Peshawar as a suicide bomber exploded in a market on the outskirts of the city.
On January 20, four militants entered the Bacha Khan University and opened fire. At least 20 people were martyred including assistant professor Syed Hamid Hussain.
Security forces foiled a terror bid on Thursday when a bomb was recovered from Gulbahar bus terminal in the provincial capital. Around 2,000 people were present in the surroundings when bomb disposal squad (BDS) had diffused the device.
Police said that a suspect named Banaras Khan was caught placing the device. Explosives weighing 3 to 4 kilograms (Kg) were placed in a thermos.
