DG ISPR says major breakthrough in investigation of Charsadda attack

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Asim Bajwa on Wednesday said that major breakthrough has happened in investigation of Charsadda attack, Dunya News reported.

In a media briefing, Lt Bajwa said a lot of information regarding the attackers has been gathered, adding that further evidence is being collected.

DG ISPR said out of 20 martyred, 18 were students and 2 staff members. He said as many as 4 terrorists attacked the university while the security staff in the university resisted the attack.

Lt Bajwa said the terrorists were alive when the army got there, adding that they were killed at the stairs and roof. He said the terrorists were equipped also with hand grenades.

General Bajwa said all forces were active within 45 minutes of the attack and that there would have been more loss had the terrorists not been stopped.

He said 2 mobile phones have been recovered from the terrorists’ possession and data from those devices has been retrieved after analysis.

National Database Registration Authority (NADRA) is assessing more data, he said.

General Bajwa said terrorists carried mobile sim cards of Afghanistan origin and one terrorist’s phone kept receiving calls from Afghanistan even after he was killed.

The DG said information to a large extent about the whereabouts of the terrorists has been collected and that full action is being taken against the facilitators of the attack.

He said Pakistan is in a state of war and that the achievements of the Operation Zarb-e-Azb are in front of everyone.

General Bajwa said intelligence operations will continue with more zeal than before and that they won’t let terrorists succeed “because the whole nation is united against terrorism”.

He said the defeated terrorists are now targeting the innocent people.
