Summary Doctors have said that Swine Flu is a type of cold with similar symptoms

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Minister of National Health Services Regulation and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar said that there are no cases of Swine Flu in the country and seasonal influenza has caused the deaths, Dunya News reported Wednesday.

The minister has denied accepting the possibility of Swine Flu existence. While addressing a press conference on Tuesday, she said that at least 350 samples were tested at National Institute of Health (NIH) for the present strain of influenza. At least 110 of the total samples were tested positive, she added.

Tarar said that the most deaths were reported among people suffering from multiple diseases. The virus is mostly affecting pregnant women, children and elderly persons, she added.

Doctors have said that Swine Flu is a type of cold with similar symptoms. This is why only a medic could tell with certainty if the disease is spreading among the locals.

On January 14, five patients affected by swine flu virus were shifted to Multan’s Nishtar Hospital.

40-year-old Sallah Arfa and 35-year-old Sultan of Dera Ismail Khan, 39-year-old Shehnaz of Sargodha, 10-year-old Iqra from Jampur and 50-year-old Attya from Dera Ghazi Khan were brought to Nishtar Hospital.

At least 54 cases of the virus have surfaced so far across Punjab. On Tuesday morning, an 87-year-old man passed away at a Rawalpindi hospital.

On January 11, a woman named Shahnaz from Muzaffargarh who was admitted earlier in the Nishtar Hospital died in the isolation ward.

Two other women had also fallen prey to the disease in Multan.
