NA passes resolution urging govt to promote religious harmony

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – National Assembly (NA) on Tuesday has passed resolution that urges special measures from the government to promote religious harmony.

The resolution was moved by Sheikh Salahuddin.

On the occasion, Minister for Religious Affairs and Inter-Faith Harmony Sardar Muhammad Yousaf said that the government is arranging gatherings in the federal capital for the cause.

He cleared that followers of religion other than Islam are free to worship according to their faith in Pakistan. At least ten festivals of religious minorities are celebrated at official level, he added.

The members who addressed the participants over the resolution include Qari Muhammad Yusuf, Asiya Nasir, Abdul Rashid Godil, Sahibzada Tariqullah, Shazia Sobia and Maulana Qamaruddin.

On the other hand, a call attention notice was given in the National Assembly pertaining to Hepatitis.

Parliamentary Secretary for National Services Dr Darshan said that the government is working towards the cause. He said that a programme in this regard is being run under Chief Ministers after it was transferred by Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif through 18th Amendment in the Constitution of Pakistan.

Treatment using tablets has replaced injections leading to economical and affordable prices, he added.

While answering a question, he said that Health Cards have been distributed among patients in the federal capital under PM’s National Health Programme.
