LAHORE (Dunya News) – Police recovered bomb and explosives from Hanjerwal bridge on Monday minutes after the convoy of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar drove past the bridge, reported Dunya News.

According to the details, Nawab Town area police were on usual patrolling when they searched the bridge on suspicion and recovered 10 kilogram bomb, 2.5 kg ball bearings and 2 gallons petrol along with a remote control. Initial investigation gives way to the doubts that it could be placed to harm the Interior Minister who crossed the bridge some time ago on his way to Islamabad.

Police have started the search and combing operation in the area to capture the culprits while also searching for the footage of CCTV cameras. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) operations said that the police party that discovered the explosives will be rewarded with prize and appreciation certificates.

Intelligence agencies arrested an alleged female agent of RAW from Baghbanpura area of Lahore, on Monday. The suspect had two Pakistani identity cards of the same name Rizwana Waseem, reported Dunya News.

According to the intelligence agencies, Rizwana, who initially told her name as Imrana, made a call to an Indian hospital from the cellular phone of a waiter working at a restaurant in Wahga. The record of the call has been retrieved as well. It was also revealed that the suspect has some relatives living in Karachi as well, who are under observation right now. Imrana and her sister Azra are being investigated by the security agencies and it is being expected that many other important agents could be arrested with information provided by her.

The police and Rangers have arrested at least 17 suspects after raiding various areas including an operative of Indian intelligence agency RAW while recovering heavy weapons, Dunya News reported.

According to details, the Counter Terrorism Department raided various areas including Baldia Town and arrested the terrorist tied to the Indian intelligence agency. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Naveed Khawaja, grenades and weapons have been recovered from the arrested agent Muhammad Arif. He said the suspect has confessed to training to make bomb and use weapons in various Indian cities.

The CTD Police raided an area near Korangi 5 where they took into custody at least 5 suspected target killers. The CTD police says that 5 pistols were recovered from the arrested suspects Umer Baig with alias Farman, Miraj, Afzal, Waleed and Zubair alias Nawab.

They said the arrested accused would do target killing for money. The CTD police claimed the arrested suspects committed various crimes including target killing in Malir, New Karachi, Sarjani Town and various other areas of the city.

Meanwhile, the Rangers have arrested as many as 11 suspects from Gulshan Ghazi, Eid Gah, Gulberg Liyari, Liaqatabad and Hub. As per the Rangers spokesperson, the arrested suspects include terrorists of a banned outfit and gang war operatives.

Rangers by late Tuesday arrested an alleged criminal belonging to a political party among three suspects in different operations.

The paramilitary forces conducted a search operation in Liaquatabad number nine. At least two suspects were detained during door-to-door search operation. The personnel kept a tight cordon across the locality’s boundary.

Separately, another suspect was detained from Karimabad. Sources said that the detainee belongs to a political party.

On the other hand, a case has been registered against two unidentified culprits who gunned down police in North Nazimabad. Earlier, at least two police personnel were killed in a firing incident in North Nazimabad.

The case involves anti-terrorism and attempted murder sections. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Swabi district, another two police constables were shot dead in the last week.

In another incident in Shah Lateef Town, police apprehended Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Ishfaq. The arrest was made as mobile phones belonging to a late doctor were seized from his possession. Dr Abbas was gunned down few days ago in Sukhan area.
