Summary ISPR says General Raheel Sharif met Afghan President, Chief Executive during his Kabul visit
RAWALPINDI: (Dunya News) – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif has on Sunday returned from Kabul after meeting Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah, reported Dunya News.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) department, General Raheel Sharif returned after completing his visit to Kabul. He discussed security matters and information sharing in his meetings with Afghan President and Chief Executive. ISPR told that the meetings also discussed coordination operation on both sides of the Afghan border and the restoration of peace process in Afghanistan.
Army chief stressed upon more coordination in order to curb terrorism on both sides of the border. The two countries decided not to let their territories be used against each other and action against those involved in terrorism on both sides of Pak-Afghan border. It was also agreed upon during the meeting that all stakeholders will have to play their role to make the peace process successful.

The first meeting for talks and reconciliation will be held during the first week of January. ISPR told that the meeting will lay down a clear roadmap for peace process. Setting up of hotline between Director Generals of the Military Operations of the two countries was also agreed upon. They also decided to increase contacts between military delegations.
Army chief also visited Bagram Airbase where he met General John F. Campbell, commander of the Resolute Support Mission and United States Forces—Afghanistan.
