NEW YORK: (Dunya News) – Pakistan’s permanent envoy to United Nations (UN) Dr. Maleeha Lodhi has on Tuesday said that Pakistan is ready to cooperate in the restoration of Afghanistan peace process, reported Dunya News.

Addressing the UN General Assembly (UNGA) during a debate on the Afghan peace process, Dr. Maleeha Lodhi said that Pakistan was ready to facilitate the restoration of peace talks among the Afghan leadership.

However, Lodhi said that Kabul must stop issuing anti-Pakistan statements if it wants Pakistan’s cooperation in the peace process.

Maleeha Lodhi said that permanent peace through talks is the only viable option for Afghanistan. She said that national reconciliation in Afghanistan is vital to stop Islamic State (IS) from establishing its bases in the region.
