Summary Dunya News got copy of inquiry report suggesting action against responsible according to PEEDA Act
LAHORE (Dunya News) – 12 people, including 8 bureaucrats are held responsible on Monday for Sundar factory collapse a few days ago. The inquiry report prepared by investigation committee under the lead of Secretary Industries Nabeel Javed, stated that 12 people are responsible for the fatal accident, reported Dunya News.
According to details, Chief Minister (CM) Punjab ordered Secretary Industries Nabeel Javed to prepare an inquiry report on the Sundar Industrial State incident. The report consisting of 15 pages, states that the responsibility of the accident lies on owner Muhammad Ashraf, 2 engineers and architects, while 8 bureaucrats are held responsible for supervision of building’s construction and failure in building control rules and other similar affairs. It is also suggested in the report to take action against the responsible bureaucrats according to the Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountability (PEEDA) Act. The accused bureaucrats include Muhammad Asad Imran, Aazib Shaukat, Muhammad Ismail, Kashif Tanveer, Col. (R) Ishfaq Hussain, Col. (R) Basheer Hussain and Qaiser Rafique. Action against negligence in monitoring and surveillance of building is also suggested in the report.
The report pointed out the reasons of collapse, as weak structure of the building and bad monitoring of engineering and construction. Industrial Building Regulation was also neglected while earthquake was another factor in weakening of the already bad structure of the building. The report requested the government to carry out the survey of all the industrial buildings of the province and setting up safety units for all industrial states.
