ATC summons challan of Safoora carnage on November 22

Summary Earlier in May, at least 46 individuals of Ismaili community were killed

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Anti-terrorism court (ATC) has summoned challan of Safoora carnage on November 22, Dunya News reported Monday.

During the hearing, investigation officer presented progress report in the matter. The report stated that aides in the shooting incident, Sultan Qamar Siddique and Hussain are brothers.

Criminal Sajjad Naeem got licenses for weapons with help of Zahid Moti Wala. The report also stated that the weapons were handed over to Saad Aziz and other terrorists involved. Fahad Aziz had opened fire on the bus with the same weapons.

Earlier in May, at least 46 individuals of Ismaili community were killed while as many as nine were injured after militants opened indiscriminate fire on a bus in Karachi.

Sindh Police Inspector General (IG) had said that the shooting was planned by a 25-member gang. He said that the group was making a plan for a long time. He also said that Aziz had been working for terror outfit Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) for past one year.

At least eight cases including Safoora carnage were transferred to military courts for speedy trials. Different reports of Indian Research and Analysis Wing’s (RAW) hand in the incident had surfaced however, Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Qaim Ali Shah said that no solid comment would be made until joint investigation team (JIT) completes probe.

Following Shah’s statement Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar also said that it was too early to point fingers at neighbouring country’s intelligence agency.

However, later on intelligence agencies claimed that traced phone calls link the shooting to India.
