PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – At least 185 people are confirmed dead while 1423 are injured in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as a consequence of deadly 8.1 magnitude earthquake which struck northern Afghanistan on October 26.
On Monday’s afternoon, an irresistible earthquake jolted parts of Pakistan with such ferocity, demolishing dozens of houses, schools and buildings.
Overall, about 229 people were killed while more than 1,800 sustained severe injuries.
According to details, 26 people were killed in Federally Administration Tribal Areas (FATA), 6 in Gilgit, 29 in Chitral, 14 in Upper Dir, four in Lower Dir whereas the quake claimed as many as four lives in each Swabi and Mardan.

Two locals have been reported dead in Nowshera, seven in Peshawar, 24 in Swat, three in Charsadda, nine in Bonair while three lost lives in Datta Khel.
Due to increasing number of wounded people, the staff and beds fell short in Lady Reading Hospital.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mushtaq Ghani announced a compensation money of Rs300,000 each for families of earthquake victims and Rs100,000 to the injured persons.
Addressing a news conference in Peshawar, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani said besides Provincial Emergency Operation Center (PDMA) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan Army, PDMA Punjab, State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) Kashmir and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) are engaged in relief activities.

We have dispatched 2000 tents, 1000 blankets and 2000 floor mats to quake-hit people, Ghani told newsmen in Peshawar.
Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani said Malakand Division has been the worst affected area.
On the other hand, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan reached Lady Reading Hospital to review emergency situation and met the injured.

The PTI leader, while talking to the media upon his arrival said that the government would utilize all resources possible for rehabilitation of the affectees and quake-hit areas.
Khan also paid an aerial visit and reviewed the ongoing relief activities.
