LONDON (Web Desk) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has cut short his London visit and left for Pakistan a day after more than two hundred people were killed and scores got injured in a massive earthquake in the country, Dunya News reported.
Talking to media before his departure, the Prime Minister thanked his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi for offering help, however, he said that Pakistan will deal with the situation through its own resources.
Nawaz Sharif said that he will personally monitor the relief activities. He has also directed the authorities to send two thousand tents to the quake affected areas.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister s House, an MI-17 helicopter has been sent to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for relief efforts.
The statement said that a nine-bed mobile hospital with a team of surgeons has been dispatched to Dir immediately.
Earlier on Monday, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif in a snap conference directed Army teams for quick assessment of earthquake damages across the country.
The army has mobilized troops and all the combined military hospitals have been put on high alert.
Later, the COAS flown to some affected areas and landed at Corps Headquarters in Peshawar where Corps Commander briefed him on damage assessment and army s response so far.

As per details, the Quick Response Forces (QRFs) have spread out in respective areas and currently engaged in rescue work mainly in Malakand, Dir, Chitral, Bajaur.
General Raheel Sharif has directed the troops to go to the remotest areas to ensure relief of every affected person.
