Summary ProfileForPeace hashtag went viral on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to foster Pak-India relations.
LAHORE (Web Desk) – A spate of anti-Pakistan protests by the Hindu extremist group Shiv Sena has triggered a spontaneous internet campaign to stop the ‘hate politics’ and foster relations between the two countries.
The online campaign (#ProfileForPeace) was launched after Shiv Sena, a junior partner in a ruling coalition with the BJP in the Maharashtra state government, threatened and protested against the visiting Pakistani artistes, writers and sportspersons in recent days in Mumbai.
Shiv Sena opposes any dealings with Pakistan but some analysts suggested that the party is trying to upstage its coalition partner with its anti-Pakistan strategy.
With an aim to battle the politics of hate, the #ProfileForPeace campaign went viral on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, with thousands of Indians and Pakistanis changing their profile pictures to one with a little love note scribble that says where they are from, that they don t hate each other, and are only being divided by hate politics.

The hostility between Pakistan and India dates back seven decades, and the two countries have fought three wars. The hostilities have been punctuated by periodic peace talks that have failed to resolve core issues including the Kashmir dispute.
Relations further strained with continued border ceasefire violations from both sides, leading to the cancellation of a meeting between their security advisers in August.
