Local leaders pull socks up in Lahore's UC-123, 124 for LB polls

Summary Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) have formed alliance with PTI

LAHORE (Web Desk) – Election activities in Union Councils (UC) 123 and 124 have increased as local leaders are organizing party members in conclusive phase of preparations for local body (LB) polls.

Earlier, in NA-122 and PP-147 re-elections were held on orders of tribunals after results of General Elections 2013 were annulled.
In UC-123, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) candidates include Raja Zahid Mehmood for Chairman, Mian Amjad Iqbal for Vice-Chairman and Muhammad Shoaib, Chaudhry Junaid, Iqbal, Ali Zaidi, Muhammad Nawaz, Zohaib Ali and Mian Azeem for General Councilors.

While those of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) are Zulqarnain Bhatti for Chairman, Vice-Chairman Nasir Ali Jutt while for General Councils, Dr Ashraf, Dr Muhammad Nazeer, Muhammad Ibrahim, Muhammad Amjad and Aslam Bhatti.

The PTI team vowed that different initiatives that they would take after election include plantation, cleanliness drive, betterment of drainage system and conversion of street lights on solar power.

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) have formed alliance with PTI as both parties would nominate collective candidates. Women candidates are also contesting for General Council.

On the other hand, in UC-124, PML-N’s Qadeer Arain is contesting for Chairman, Jahanzaib Saeed for Vice-Chairman, Hafiz Ilyas, Uzma Shahzadi, and Yaseen Qureshi for General Councils. While the potential candidates representing PML-N in UC-124 are Rafeeq Khan for Chairman, Kashif Chaudhry for Vice-Chairman, Abid Hussain, Ashraf Bhola, Muhammad Sarwar, Raja Shahid Poomi, Adnan Qudoos and Naveed Tahir for General Councils.

Whereas Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) candidates in the UC are Yaqoob Awan for Chairman, Muhammad Haneef for Vice-Chairman and Muhammad Afzal, Kaptaan Saleem, Sarfraz Chaudhry and Akhlaq Ahmed for General Councils.
