ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – High Court (HC) on Tuesday has sought replies from parties over plea that challenges summons of three minors issued by the magistrate in window-breaking case.
Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddique heard petition seeking annulment of children’s summons issued after they were reported for playing in the streets.
Petitioner’s counsel Israr Abbasi Advocate said that the children are being harassed in the court. He challenged the grounds on which minors have been summoned. He denounced issuance of summons for playing in the streets.
The court adjourned the hearing until November’s first week. The IHC issued notices to parties and sought replies.
While talking to the media outside court, Israr Abbasi Advocate said that Customs officer Haleema Raza filed plea against the children in capacity of Deputy Collector. He alleged Raza of using police pressure to harass children.
Earlier on October 19, the Customs officer approached the IHC and stated that three children have broken window of her car and she is disturbed by the constant noise and ruckus in the street. The three children nominated were three-year-old Mohib, seven-year-old Abdul Manan and two-year-old Minhaj.
Sources said that the magistrate did not take into account the ages and issued summons anyway. The children did appear for the hearing but magistrate’s absence postponed the hearing.
