Summary They said that no voter can be transferred without appearing before registration officer
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Sunday responded to Imran Khan by saying no voter was transferred outside of NA-122 without their consent, Dunya News reported.
According to details, the ECP has issued an explanation on alleged transfer of voters from the NA-122 constituency. They said that no voter can be transferred without appearing before registration officer.
As per the ECP, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has been provided with the voter lists of general elections 2013 and NA-122 by-election and that they are prepared to provide more information on this if needed.
The ECP said that the number of registered voters in general election 2013 in NA-122 constituency was 3 lakh 26 thousand 28 whereas in the by-election this number was 3 lakh 47 thousand 762.
Meanwhile, PTI has decided to examine NA-122 voters list on “war-footing”. It has also rejected ECP’s claim of being provided with complete electoral lists. Shoaib Siddiqui said that the lists handed over are incomplete.
PTI Punjab organizer Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar headed a session in Lahore in which the voter lists of the NA-122 constituency were examined. The party leadership said on this occasion that ECP, NADRA and courts will be contacted to ‘expose’ government tactics.
PTI leaders said that electoral lists were sought from the ECP on October 12, adding that a case will be registered against the commission if a response not received today.
The Member Provincial Assembly-elect Shoaib Siddiqui said that ECP’s claim of providing complete electoral lists is false, adding that the lists received are incomplete.
In the press release issued by the party, it was also stated that PTI will raise voice against government’s rigging technique on international forums.
It said even European Union (EU) and United Nations (UN) will be contacted if the need be. It was stated in the session that detailed record regarding NA-122 voter lists will be available within next 48 hours. The PTI leaders said that complaints are being received from every union council with evidence.
