Summary Rejecting objections on papers of Aleem Khan and Ayaz Sadiq, LHC allowed them to contest election

LAHORE: (Dunya News) – Lahore High Court’s (LHC) appellate panel has on Friday rejected the objections on the papers of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) candidate Abdul Aleem Khan. The court allowed the two heavyweights to contest the by-election in NA-122, reported Dunya News.

According to details, papers of Ayaz Sadiq and Aleem Khan in Na-122 and those of PTI’s Shoaib Siddiqui and PML-N’s Mohsin Latif in PP-147 were challenged by many independent candidates along with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Justice Party. The petitioners had claimed that the candidates had concealed the facts in their papers and do not fulfill the prerequisites for a candidate listed in Articles 62 and 63 of the constitution.

The 2-member bench, headed by Justice Mehmood Bajwa, heard the petitions and upheld the decision by the Returning Officer, allowing all the 4 candidates to contest the election.

During the hearing, PAT withdrew its allegations leveled against Abdul Aleem Khan.
