Punjab govt beefs up security of various PTI leaders in wake of threats

Summary Directions have been issued to conduct security audit of the leaders' residences.

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Punjab government in wake of the threats given to various Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) leaders by banned outfits has beefed up their security today (Friday).

PTI wrote a letter to Chief Minister (CM) Punjab for provision of security after various party leaders including Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar got threats from outlawed organizations.

In response to the letter, Punjab government increased the security of Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar, Mian Aslam Iqbal, Abdul Aleem Khan, Malik Taimoor and Mehmood-ur-Rasheed.

Directions have been issued to conduct security audit of the leaders’ residences and initiate search operation in the nearby areas.

Besides this instructions regarding protective measures have also been given to special branch counter terrorism and other related departments whereas a letter has also been written to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to trace the threatening messages and emails.
