Summary Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif a high-level meeting to discuss problems of industrial sector.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting with heads of chambers of commerce and exporter groups in Islamabad today (Friday) to deliberate over measures to increase exports in the challenging environment of global economy.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan and Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi attended the meeting.
The meeting discussed various initiatives to improve quality and competitiveness of Pakistani exports, problems and demands of the industrial sector and other issues pertaining to taxes and energy crisis.
During the meeting, Nawaz Sharif said no country can make progress without enhancing its revenues besides we can only pay off our debts by increasing our resources.
He regretted that the country s exports have not witnessed any growth over the past few years while other economies in South Asia have surpassed us in this field.
He urged the business community to give their valuable inputs to fix the problem of stagnant growth in exports. He also assured the the government will address the problems faced by the business community.
