Summary 1st phase of the local body elections to be held on October 31, Rangers, police will ensure security

KARACHI: (Dunya News) – First phase of the local body elections in Sindh will be held on October 31 and Rangers and police will be designated to maintain law and order in the province, reported Dunya News.

A meeting was held regarding the schedule and management of the local body elections on Monday under the headship of Chief Secretary Siddique Memon. The meeting was attended by Secretary Local Bodies, provincial election commissioner and police officials. The decision to hold the elections in three phases was given the final touches in this meeting.

The first phase will be held on October 31 in Sukkur and Larkana. Second phase will be held on November 19 in Mirpur Khas, Benazirabad and Hyderabad. The third phase will be in Karachi on December 3.

It was revealed during the meeting that 29 Distrioct Returning Officers, 316 Returning Officers and 551 Assistant Returning Officers will be deployed in the election. Moreover, there will be 16,601 Presiding Officers and 108,261 Assistant Presiding Officers conducting the election.

Rangers and police will be responsible for maintaining law and order during the elections.
