Summary Ayaz Sadiq will be re-appointed NA Speaker if he wins NA-122 by-elections.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The ruling Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to re-appoint Ayaz Sadiq as Speaker of the National Assembly.
According to sources, the government has finalised all the legal and constitutional measures in this regard.
As per rule 11 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, "whenever the office of the Speaker becomes vacant, an election to fill that vacancy shall be held if the Assembly is in session or at the commencement of its next session."
Ayaz Sadiq was de-seated by the election tribunal from NA-122 constituency of Lahore on August 22 after massive irregularities were found in the constituency during the 2013 general elections.
The Election Commission has fixed October 11 for by-election in the constituency and the PML-N has again fielded Ayaz Sadiq as its candidate while the opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has nominated Aleem Khan to contest the by-elections.
According to sources, the government has scheduled next session of the National Assembly on October 26 in order to re-appoint Sadiq as NA Speaker if he wins the election.
