Five families claim Geeta's responsibility, counsel criticises Indian govt for not cooperating

KARACHI (Dunya News) – Indian counsel for Geeta, Momineen Malik on Wednesday has said that the Indian government is not cooperating with him for repatriation of the deaf-mute.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has postponed hearing of Indian national, Geeta’s case. SHC Chief Justice Faisal Arab postponed all hearings due to senior lawyer Abdul Hafeez Pirzada’s death.

While talking to the media, Malik said that his government is not cooperating with him in the matter. He wishes to have Geeta’s blood tests done, he added.

Geeta’s counsel said that as many as five families in India are claiming her to be their family member. The also counsel brought child who was found without any sibling or parent in Samjhota Express to the SHC. 

Earlier, Pakistan had made an offer that National Security Advisor (NSA) Sartaj Aziz would repatriate Geeta on his visit for NSA-level talks. However, India cancelled the talks due to reservations over Aziz s meeting with All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leaders.
