CEC approves schedule for 1st phase of LB polls in Punjab, Sindh

Summary Polling in the first phase will be held on October 31 this year.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on Wednesday approved schedule for first phase of the local government elections in Punjab and Sindh.

As per schedule, polling in the first phase will be held in eight districts of Sindh and twelve districts of Punjab on 31st of October this year.

Nomination papers can be filed from 7th to 11th of next month while scrutiny of nominations papers would be held from 12th of 17th of next month.

Last date for filing of appeals against the decisions of the Returning Officers regarding acceptance or rejection of the nomination papers would be 22nd of next month.

Tribunals would decide appeals by 30th of next month while last date for withdrawal of candidature would be first of October this year.

For the purpose, District Returning Officers (DROs), Returning Officers (ROs) and Assistant Returning Officers (AROs) have already been appointed by the Election Commission and they have been asked to accomplish their duties in accordance with the provision of Law and Rules and maintain neutrality and impartiality.
