Summary NA Speaker has reportedly said that resignations will not be accepted

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The matter of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmakers’ resignation has stalled after National Assembly (NA) Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq reportedly said he won’t accept the resignations, Dunya News reported.

According to sources, MQM resignations do not fulfill the criteria of Rules of Business 43-2B and therefore the Speaker will not accept them.

Reportedly, the Speaker instead of writing ‘accepted’ on the resignations wrote ‘please process’ after which they have been sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The sources further said that an important session is ongoing at this time at the Prime Minister House in Islamabad in which legal consultation is being taken on the matter.

The government’s trying to doge the resignations and reportedly, PM Nawaz also doesn’t want MQM lawmakers to quit assemblies.

As per the sources, the government will attempt to convince MQM lawmakers to withdraw resignations after their concerns are addressed so that the Karachi operation against militants is not compromised.
