LAHORE (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan on Thursday announced to file cases against the Returning Officers (ROs) and other electoral staff in light of the inquiry report to probe alleged rigging in 2013 general elections, Dunya News reported.

In a six-page letter written to Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Raza, Khan said that Inquiry Commission’s report has exposed the Returning Officers. He said the report has proven ROs and electoral staff as ‘nation’s criminals’.

Khan wrote that the staffers guilty of negligence can be imprisoned for 2 years, adding that they are Chief Election Commissioner is bound to launch criminal proceedings against ROs.

He asked what reforms the election commission did in light of the inquiry commission’s report.

Talking to the media, Khan said that all parties have said that rigging took place in 2013 general elections, adding that it is for the first time that the rigging investigation took place in country’s history.

He said he is disappointed that the judicial commission has left his job incomplete but, he said, he accepts the report.

Criticising the imposition of tax on bank transactions, Khan announced to support traders’ strike beginning from August 1st.
