Summary Bill approved by the Senate with majority vote, will be reapproved by National Assembly as well
ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Senate approved the bill for party-based local body elections in Islamabad on Thursday. The bill was approved by the Upper House with majority vote and it will also be reapproved from National Assembly, reported Dunya News.
The bill was presented in the Senate by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. 20 new amendments have been made in the bill including the clause to hold it on party basis.
Earlier, the National Assembly had approved the bill for local body elections on non-party basis. Bill will now be sent to the National Assembly once again where the government will seek its approval.
Joint session of the parliament will be called if this bill fails to get National Assembly’s approval.
