ISLAMABAD: (Dunya News) – Afghan government and a Taliban delegation are going to hold peace talks in Islamabad tonight as Pakistan to play facilitator’s role for peace in the neighboring country. The first phase of the talks will be held tonight while the next phase will be held on Wednesday July 8, reported Dunya News.
According to the details, Afghan government and the Taliban have agreed to negotiate for peace in Afghanistan. Talks between the two parties are starting tonight in Islamabad. Sources told that the Afghan government delegation is going to be led by Afghanistan’s Vice Foreign Minister Hekmat Karzai while Mullah Jalil is going to lead the Afghan Taliban delegation.
Sources told Dunya News that the high level talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban hold great importance. First round of talks between the two parties was held in May 2015 in Urumqi, China.
Advisor to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz had termed the coming weeks vital for peace in Afghanistan before Senate’s Foreign Affairs Committee on May 25.
