KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh Minister for Information Sharjeel Memon was caught lying to the press on Sunday that the Rescue 1122 institution is fully functional in Karachi whereas over a hundred ambulances of this service remain off roads and never attended or transported any patient to the hospital.
According to details, at least hundred ambulances of KMC have been dysfunctional, parked in far-flung garages for years.
Memon claimed that Rescue 1122 is completely functional in Sindh and that their operators work 24 hours to respond to the emergencies.
Contrary to the minister’s claim, not a single ambulance of this service is functional. Reportedly, funds of several crores were spent to acquire these vehicles to be used as ambulance services but the rulers’ lack of attention and ignorance and left those vehicles practically of no use.
