KP govt's APC over LB polls underway in Peshawar

Summary ANP, PML-N, PPP, JUI-F have refused to take part in the APC.

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - All Parties Conference (APC) called by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government over local bodies election is underway in Peshawar today (Tuesday), Dunya News reported.

As per details, the conference has been headed by Chief Minister of KP Pervez Khattak in which the leaders of Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) have boycotted to take part.

Sikandar Sherpao and Aneesa Zeb Tahir from Qaumi Watan Party are participating in the meeting whereas Intekhab Chamkani from Paksitan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q), Shahram Tarakzai from Awami Jamhoori Itehad and Professor Ibrahim from Jamat-e-Islami (JI) are also attending the conference.

Information Minister Mushtaq Ghani is representing PTI while Atif Khan and Shah Farman would also give their views in the meeting.

While talking to the media before APC, Sikandar Sherpao stated that he will present as many as three demands of his party over the issue of rigging in LB polls.

He said that the government should annul the election and should start investigation to bring the culprits to the justice.

Professor Ibrahim said that we have arrived here to deliver our stance and that the parties should also give their arguments rather than boycotting the conference.

The meeting was called on to discuss the issue of rigging in LB polls that were held on May 30.

The participants of the meeting would give recommendations on the matter whereas the delegation would also take decision regarding re-election in the province.

On the other hand, three of the big opposition parties ANP, PPP and JUI-F have announced strike on June 10.

According to the details, opposition parties have announced to observe a shutter-down strike on June 10. Leader of the 3-party alliance Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that pressure will be applied from all sides till government’s resignation
