QUETTA (Dunya News) - Unidentified gunmen opened fire on a police van in the troubled Balochistan and killed four policemen, officials said on Saturday.
As per details, the policemen were on a routine patrol in Pashtunabad area of Quetta when unknown gunmen riding on motorbikes opened indiscriminate fire on the van, killing sub-inspector Ali Muhammad and driver Abdullah on the spot. Another two cops Abdullah and Attaullah sustained injuries in the incident.
They were rushed to Quetta Civil Hospital but could not survive.
A heavy contingent of police and FC personnel cordoned off the area and launched investigation into the incident.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has strongly condemned the attack and expressed condolences with the bereaved families.
In a message, he said that such incidents could not weaken government s resolve to eliminate terrorism and extremism from the country. He directed the concerned authorities to apprehend the culprits at the earliest.
The attack comes a week after terrorists stormed two passenger coaches in Mastung district and killed at least 22 people.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks.
