Summary Rangers personnel were also called on the scene after the protest turned violent

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The six-hour long protest held outside Landhi Police Station against arrest of a youth in alleged dacoity case ended after police and the administration assured protesters of probe into the matter.

The Landhi Police Station Station House Officer (SHO) and other policemen have been suspended and a probe has been initiated into the matter.

The protesters entered the police station and damaged the state properties. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Korangi took action after learning about the news and registered a case. However, the enraged protesters have also demanded suspension of Superintendent of Police (SP) Landhi.

The protesters tortured policeman on duty named Amir. They said that Fayaz was arrested on Amir’s tip-off at least four days ago. Rangers personnel were also called on the scene after the protest turned violent. The personnle baton-charged the protesters to control the scene. The police opened aerial firing to disperse the protesters.

However, the parties’ negotiations were successful. The police said that a case has been filed and the facts would be brought in light soon.
