Summary Murder case has also been registered against four police officials including inspector investigation
KARACHI (Dunya News) - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has announced two-day mourning on the death of its Baldia sector worker Waseem Abba in police custody today (Wednesday), Dunya News reported.
According to the press release issued by MQM, the party has appealed the nation, transporters, traders and shopkeepers to record their protest by boycotting their activities.
The party has also termed Waseem’s death as tortured killing of police.
MQM has also summoned an emergency press conference today at 5 p.m.
On the other hand, the post-mortem report states that the victim died due to deep injury on the head with a blunt instrument.
DIG East Muneer Sheikh while taking notice of the incident suspended SHO Aziz Bhatti police station and demoted him from his rank whereas a murder case has also been registered against four police officials including inspector investigation.
Moreover, a committee has also been formed to probe the incident.
Earlier, police arrested three suspects from Baldia area on June 2, one of whom died suddenly today in custody.
A large number of victim s relatives reached the hospital and protested against Waseem’s death while blocking Jinnah hospital road for traffic.
The protesters have announced to continue the demonstration until the release of two brothers still in police custody.
Some enraged people entered the morgue and indulged in ransacking whereas they also manhandled a police official in plain clothes who was rescued later.
