MULTAN (Dunya News) - Polling for the by-election in PP-196 Multan is underway with various acts of code of conduct breach amid it, Dunya News reported.
As per sources, violation of code of conduct is being witnessed at polling station no.14 as the vote is being cast after revealing it to polling agent whereas the use of mobile phones is also in continuous practice in the polling booths.
Pakistan Peoples Party candidate Hassan Arain reached polling station with his armed guards who despite of restriction from Election Commission (EC) showcased weapons in the presence of police and Rangers personnels whereas Rana Mahmood-ul- Hassan of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) entered the polling station with his guards and got the ballot papers stamped.
Moreover it has also been found that two ballot papers were used by a single voter.
On the other hand, polling was also stopped on polling station no.16 when the women voters engaged inti a brawl.
The Provincial assembly seat fell vacant due to disqualification of former Provincial Minister Chaudhry Abdul Waheed Arain.
Rana Mahmood-ul- Hassan PML-N and Rana Abdul Jabbar of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) are major contenders among 14 candidates.
Over 1,76,315 voters are eligible to cast their votes at 133 polling stations.
Besides this 41 polling stations have been declared sensitive due to which nearly 4000 police officials and six companies of Rangers have been deployed.
